185: {i heart} Iman Williams

Occasionally, I’ll bring to you artists that I know/love/respect to broaden our musical scope. Music is definitely a way to learn about someone and in a way explains sort of the mood and inspiration behind what drives me creatively. So I guess I’m teaching my process. These people are major factors in that process.

Iman Williams is this beautiful songbird hails from Montgomery Alabama and lucky for us all, was engulfed in soul from the very start.

LR: What is your most favorite thing in this world, and why?
IW:  I would say no one THING is my favorite because I don’t like to put too much into one THING, however…LOL I have a favorite person which would  be  my 2 year old son Saaid. He’s a wonderful and intelligent being containing the likes of me and his father (Kahlil). We’re both musically so naturally it’s embedded in him. He’s beat boxing already LOL

LR: That’s awesome! What words of encouragement do you give yourself?
IW:  I always tell myself that nothing can end me but me so it’s important that I do ALL I can to be a better ME whether it’s physically, mentally, emotionally, or musically.

Hi world!

I’ve been thinking lately I might make an appearance every now and then via a vlog just to spice things up a bit. I intend on them being a regular feature here and sometimes I may combine what appears in them (instead of me rambling off at the mouth, I might interview someone.)

My first one is right around the corner when my official site is launched.

I create belly chains primarily on special order and require a deposit. All I need is your waist measurement for exactly where you would like it to fall. They can come in a fairly large array of colors that I currently own. If you’d like a color that I don’t have, just let me know and I can purchase it for you!

180: {things i love} Amsterdam

First, today is my half-birthday!! Happy birthday to meeee!
Yes, I celebrate my half birthday. I even put it in my calendar. It’s very important that I do.
I’m a winter baby and I remember every year when I was younger I would count my half birthday but didn’t do anything with it. Then when I graduated college, I had the wise idea to have summer parties! So I’ll be laying on the beach all day today with my girls eating cold fruit and sipping on something bubbly and loving my half bday!

I feel like I speak about this place, my future home a ba-zillion times.
But I love it just as much as Brooklyn.

This post is all about the love. My Amsterdam fam is all throughout this.

Over what has been the majority of a year, I’ve gotten to know and adore this woman. She has been an e-confidant, helping me through some hurdles and pushing me forward when I sometimes felt like I was falling apart. I sincerely consider her a true friend.

She is also the mastermind behind probably one of my top 5 favorite fashion and lifestyle blogs, She Breathes. Everything about the asthetic pulls me in. It’s very timely, photo-focused and simply beautiful. Ms. Shoo (as she goes by hehe) has an eye for some of the most amazing things available and is training my eye and making me a better fashionista (something I seriously never considered myself) every day. Her blog is everything and she recently started another blog that focuses on home decor named Love+Dreams. Equally as luscious. I’ve never really wanted to wear a couch quite so much before, haha.

I strongly suggest you check her out and fall in love. She’s tres cool.

174: stelabird is opening The Felt Bird!

I am SO uber excited that my e-friend, Estela of the wonderfully AWESOME Stelabird (I’ve got a job now boo, so I’m getting some of those owls & birdies) who I have also featured right here on this blog, is opening a B&M in Enid, OK!!

Congratulations guys!! That’s such a major step and super awesome ambitious thing to do out of college! It’s wonderful to know right away what your best talents are and to hone them early on. I’m stoked for you all (all=Riley, her boyfriend & Dexter their cutie pie doggy-son!)

The name of their store is The Felt Bird and you can see their blog (which will be chock full of great stuff soon I’m sure) here. If I’m ever in OK (you never know. Me & the Mr. do want to drive through the US some time) this is the first place I’m stopping by!

AWESOME UPDATE: Starting Fall 09, yours truly…L’élephant Rose will be carried at The Felt Bird!! I will have a display of some earrings and headbands available to the awesome folks in OK! Hooray!
